My Counseling Approach
In my practice, I first focus on helping you feel safe and heard during your counseling sessions. This may be the first time that you have been able to express your true feelings without being judged. Therefore, before we jump into the ‘problems,’ I ensure that you are ready to discuss what brought you to therapy in the first place and then we will go from there! In addition, I adopt a client-directed outcome informed approach, which means that (a) your feedback is routinely sought and used to direct the counseling session, and (b) the progress towards the reduction of symptoms is routinely measured and the results are used to determine the effectiveness of the counseling relationship. Despite my best attempts, there are no absolute guarantees that you, specifically, will find my services helpful. However, research seems to indicate that those who attend counseling are better off than 80% of those who do not seek treatment. We will work together to resolve your concerns! I typically employ counseling theories and techniques from a variety of approaches including but not limited to: trauma-informed cognitive-behavioral therapy, solution-focused therapy, and Family Systems therapy.
